New resource: Plain language summaries of research
Medical research is powerful, but only if it can be understood.
New research in organ donation and transplantation can provide information about new treatments and better care for patients. However, it often uses complicated language, complex terms, and data that can be difficult to follow.
This is why we have launched a new resource where you can find summaries of the latest research about organ donation and transplantation all in one place. We've translated the science, so you don't have to.
"We are delighted to launch our plain language summaries, which is turning complex research into information that patients can easily understand and translate to real life. Using plain language makes it easier for patients to learn about the latest research that is happening in organ donation and /or transplantation, builds trust and ensures patients feel informed, respected, and included. In the long-term, this will help build healthy research relationships between researchers and patients or the public." - Adnan Sharif, UKODTRN Co-Director
We want to increase transparency and build trust in research by sharing findings in an accessible way. This can help patients to better understand their conditions, advocate for themselves, and feel more confident when making decisions about their care. It can also give hope to those waiting for a transplant, knowing that so much research is being undertaken to improve patient outcomes.
"I enjoyed it so much, that I followed the link to the actual report, which highlighted what a good concise piece this is" - UKODTRN Public Contributor
