Sharing experiences and management of kidney transplant failure: Findings from the IN_FAKT study
Professor Pippa Bailey and Dr Bonnie Venter will present findings from the 'IN-FAKT' study in which a series of interviews were undertaken with:
- people experiencing kidney transplant failure
- people who had experienced kidney transplant failure in the past
- the family and friends of people who had experience transplant failure
- healthcare professionals from kidney and transplant NHS teams.
The researchers analysed and compared what people told them. In this webinar they share those findings and discuss what the next steps for research could be.

Presenter Bios:
Professor Pippa Bailey is a Professor in Renal Medicine at the University of Bristol and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at North Bristol NHS Trust. Her research focuses on trying to ensure equitable (fair) access to kidney transplantation and on improving outcomes after someone has a kidney transplant. She led the IN-FAKT study and currently leads the 'OPTIMAL feasibility study: OPTimising IMmunosuppression for older Adut kidney transplant recipients' and the 'ASK trial: improving AccesS to living-donor Kidney transplantation'.
Dr Bonnie Venter is a social-legal researcher specialising in law, ethics, and healthcare. Her research interests include transplant decision-making and the legal, ethical, and regulatory dimensions of living kidney donation in the UK. She has held advisory and committee roles with the South African Medical Research Council, the European Society of Organ Transplantation, and the UK Kidney Association. Bonnie led the interviews in the IN-FAKT study, and analysis.
